PARADISE - Carribbean Style
Start with a Palapa
Creating an outdoor room to enjoy year round increases the living space of your home and
brings a relaxing feeling that you can achieve by stepping out of the house into space
created especially for you.
What Is A Palapa?
A palapa is a thatched structure made from treated lumber and woven palm frowns to form a
natural covering from the elements. Palapas are often seen in the tropics as resort shade
structures. They are made to withstand strong winds and extreme temperatures.
Is The Wood Uniform In Color And Texture?
No. The Palapas are meant to appear somewhat rustic, rough and slightly imperfect. The few
visible cracks and variance in wood hue add to the desired effect - a beautiful, authentic
palapa.
Does The Thatch Withstand Heavy Winds?
Yes! Tiny, woven holes permit air circulation and will "breathe" with
the wind instead of fighting it as canvas or metal does.
